Counseling Methodologies

As a therapist in practice for over twenty years, I have a great deal of training in methodologies that are very effective for eliciting emotional and psychological healing. These include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is used to work with thoughts and behaviors that are not helpful or are outdated. It can help to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression and unwanted habits.

  • Gestalt Therapy is an interactive tool used to work on inner conflicts between parts of self and create meaningful resolutions for inner peace. This can be done via the imagination, combined with hypnotherapy or through art.

  • Hypnotherapy is used for explorations into subconscious beliefs and traumas as well as accessing higher parts of self. One type of Hypnotherapy I use is called Spiritual Response Therapy which can often call forth deep root issues that are difficult to reach with ordinary therapy.

  • EMDR is an effective method for processing trauma. With the use of alternate brain stimulation, traumatic material that continues to surface can be quieted and essentially filed away in your memory rather than arising again and again.

  • EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique uses pressure points in the body to work on problems such as eating disorders or other unwanted behaviors, obsessive thinking and compulsions, fears, worries and anxiety and many other issues. It is a technique that we can do together as well as use at home.

  • Dream Work is a process that helps you understand the messages your dreams may be giving you. We process dreams by calling on the imagination as well as cognitive assessment. Gestalt therapy, artwork and hypnotherapy can be used in dream work as well.

  • Soul Healing focuses on recognizing learned patterns and inner voices as just that and bringing forth the voice of the soul as one's deepest authority. We work on boundary setting, locating and learning to listen to one's inner compass and developing a sense of confidence in one's own connection with universal wisdom. This work may be relevant for those who have left spiritual groups or churches and want to establish their own authentic values, priorities and spiritual connections.

  • Grief Work can help to process feelings of loss after a disappointment or the passing of a loved one, human or animal. We may incorporate Gestalt work, art work, dream work and/or intuitive work to help to ease the grieving process and begin to re-align the relationship with a loved one into a spiritual connection.

  • Life Coaching can be helpful when you want support to create the life that truly fulfills you. As a trained Life Coach, I can help you identify your life purpose, enhance your natural gifts and help you achieve your goals.
